According to Houston’s city Police chief Troy Finner, a guy set fire to a structure and then opened fire on individuals running away on Sunday morning (local time), leaving at least four people dead and two others hurt.
The police chief revealed at a press conference that the suspect was one of the four people killed, according to CNN. A Houston policeman later shot and killed the suspect.
All of the victims, according to Mr. Finner, were men between the ages of 40 and 60.
“This suspect, unfortunately, and very sadly, and very evilly, set fire to several residents,” Mr Finner said during the press conference as quoted by CNN.
The suspect then “laid in wait for those residents to come out and fired upon them,” he said. According to the police official, the fire department came on the scene first to put out the fire but had to leave because of the shooter when they got there.
“The suspect began to fire. I don’t know if he was firing in their direction, but they had to take cover,” Mr Finner said.
He stated that the suspect was a 40-year-old African American male wearing just all-black clothing.
In a seemingly targeted shooting last week in the US state of Maryland, one person died and six others were hurt.
One victim, according to the police, died as a result of his injuries and was declared dead by medical professionals. Adult males make up each and every victim.
The suspect car, according to witnesses, is a four-door silver Lexus sedan.
“On August 24, 2022, at approximately 12.24 p.m., Northwest District officers were summoned to the intersection of Shirley Avenue and Park Heights Avenue to investigate a reported shooting,” the Baltimore police said in a statement posted on Facebook.
Before that, a guy reportedly lit his car on fire and crashed it into a barricade at the US Capitol late at night, according to Fox News. According to reports, the unnamed individual shot himself after shooting randomly.
