A Bangladeshi woman who is in love has been detained for overstaying her visa

This has all the makings of a big-budget movie. A Bangladeshi woman crossed borders for love, coming to the city to be with her lover she met on Facebook, overstayed her visa, obtained an Indian passport using fake documents, had a love child, lost her partner in a traffic accident, and was caught by cops.

The Ahmedabad rural SOG has charged the woman, who is in her early 30s, with violating sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Foreigners Act, and the Passport Act.

The rural SOG searched a residence at Satyesh Residency near Applewoods in Shela after receiving information regarding a Bangladeshi national’s unlawful stay in India. Sonu Joshi was the woman’s name, and she said the three-year-old living with her was her daughter.

Cops discovered a Bangladeshi passport, an Indian passport, two Aadhaar cards, and two PAN cards while scouring the area. The Bangladeshi passport with her photo had the name ‘Shirina Aktar,’ and the address listed was Jessore, Bangladesh, according to cops. Last June, the passport was due to expire.

Her name was Sonu Joshi, and her birthplace was Hyderabad, according to her Indian passport. Her picture was on both her Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with the name ‘Sonu Joshi.’ The accused’s name is Shirina, and she was previously married and residing in Jessore; she also had a son from her previous marriage. Hitesh Joshi was a Facebook friend she met in 2017. They began chatting on a regular basis and eventually fell in love.

She arrived in Ahmedabad with a Bangladeshi passport and a tourist visa a year later and stayed with Joshi for a while. She became pregnant during this period, and because she did not want to return to Bangladesh, the couple continued to live together. A daughter was born to the couple.

Shirina used fraudulent documents to get her Aadhaar and PAN cards. In January of last year, she utilised the Aadhaar card to obtain an Indian passport. She also visited Bangladesh last year before her Indian passport was revoked.

While the couple had recently moved to an apartment in Satyesh Residency, Hitesh Joshi died in a car accident last month. Joshi is said to have been involved in fraud and Prohibition instances in the past. The cops have yet to find any documentation relating to their marriage.

“The passport was manufactured using fraudulent documents from Hyderabad,” stated Ahmedabad Rural SP Virendra Yadav. In the near future, a team will travel to Hyderabad. We’re looking into whether the woman was involved in any illegal activities.” The offender was remanded for five days by the police.
