On the order of a court in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh, a complaint was filed against Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and 49 others for an alleged defamatory post against Samajwadi Party chairman Akhilesh Yadav, police said on Tuesday.
“During the course of the investigation, Zuckerberg’s name was dropped,” a senior district police officer stated, “while an investigation is being carried out against the administrator of the (Facebook) page.”
On Monday, Chief Judicial Magistrate Dharamveer Singh ordered the police to file a report against Amit Kumar, a resident of Sarahati village.
According to SHO Prayag Narayan Bajpayee, a case was filed at Thatia police station in response to the court order.
Amit Kumar claimed in his court filing that an attempt was made to destroy the image of Samajwadi Party chairman Akhilesh Yadav on the Facebook group known as ‘Bua Babua.’
When BSP head Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav formed an alliance in the 2019 parliamentary election, the moniker “Bua Babua” was coined.
According to Amit Kumar, an application was made to the Superintendent of Police via registered mail on May 25, but no action was taken, so he went to court and requested that a case be filed.
