After Pakistan defeated India in a T20 World Cup match, a man from Saharanpur was arrested for reportedly spreading pro-Pakistan propaganda on his WhatsApp status. Two individuals were first arrested for reportedly cheering the Pakistani squad after their victory over India in the match, according to police. On November 2, a FIR was lodged against them at a police station in Saharanpur.

“Following the match, we received a complaint against two people who uploaded pro-Pakistan information on their WhatsApp status.” “One of the suspects has been apprehended, while the other is continuing on the run,” said circle officer Mohd Rizwan.

According to the police, the FIR was filed under Section 66 of the IT Act and Section 295 of the IPC (defiling place of worship). The two accused, both in their twenties, own and operate a watch shop.
