According to the police, a 35-year-old mother of two was arrested on Saturday for reportedly throwing acid on a guy for allegedly rejecting her marriage proposal.
According to the police, Arun Kumar (28) of Thiruvanthapuram is being treated at the medical college hospital in the state capital and is in danger of losing his eyesight after Sheeba threw acid on his face on November 16.
“Doctors say that he may lose his eyesight. They met through Facebook, but later he came to know that she was married and is the mother of two children. He wanted to end the relationship, but she tried to blackmail him and demanded money,” the police told PTI.
Mr Kumar, along with his brother-in-law and a friend, allegedly went to a church near Adimali on November 16 to see her and pay her the money she requested.
Sheeba, who was standing behind Mr Kumar, came up and flung acid on his face, according to a CCTV image released today from the church premises. She, too, sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.
He was admitted to a private hospital in Adimali that day, according to police, and later transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
