Following the release of the SIT report in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, calls for Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni’s resignation have grown louder. Meanwhile, ABP News has learned from government sources that Ajay Mishra will not be removed from his position. According to the source, the SIT is conducting its investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Ajay Mishra is powerless to influence the investigation in this situation. As a result, there’s no reason to get rid of them. Also, according to the source, Ajay Mishra is not the UP Home Minister, who may sway the probe. The charges have been levelled against Ajay Mishra’s son, who has yet to be found guilty. As a result, there’s no need to get rid of them.
The House of Commons was adjourned for the day today due to a great deal of noise in the Parliament, which demanded Ajay Mishra’s resignation. The SIT stated in its motion to a court on Tuesday that the death of four farmers and a journalist in Lakhimpur Kheri was a “premeditated conspiracy.” Simultaneously, the SIT had urged that the case be expanded to include more serious allegations. On Tuesday, the court granted the SIT permission to include a section in the trial dealing with attempted murder.
On October 3, Ashish Mishra Monu, the son of Union Minister of State for Home, and 13 of his accomplices are accused of thrashing protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri with a jeep. This incident and the violence that followed resulted in the deaths of eight persons, including four farmers.
Following the SIT report, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi issued a notice of adjournment in the Lok Sabha this morning. Outside the House, Rahul Gandhi warned that Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra will have to resign and face jail time. On the one hand, he continued, the Prime Minister apologises to the farmers, but on the other, he is appointing a minister who has “killed the farmers.”
Rahul Gandhi claimed after the House was adjourned, “Farmers were slaughtered. It’s been suggested that the minister is involved. He is a member of the Prime Minister’s cabinet. On the one hand, the Prime Minister apologises to farmers, while on the other, he refuses to compensate the families of the farmers who died. They have appointed a killer to their council of ministers, who has murdered (farmers).”
He stated that he wished to bring the topic up in Parliament, but that he was not permitted to do so. “We had told the families of farmers that we would seek justice by pressuring them,” Rahul Gandhi insisted. We predicted that agricultural laws would have to be repealed, and you can see that they have been. Similarly, the minister will have to quit and serve time in prison. We are not going anywhere. The minister will have to serve five, ten, or fifteen years in prison.”
“The administration is preventing us from speaking, which has caused a ruckus in the House.” We’ve stated that the report has arrived and that his ministers are involved, therefore it needs to be considered. He, on the other hand, is adamant about not having the conversation.
