Amazon announced the completion of the merging of its grocery businesses Fresh and Pantry into a single unified store called Amazon Fresh in India on Friday (November 12). On November 12, the comapny’s Fresh store opened its doors.
Customers in more than 300 cities around the country can now use Amazon Fresh to place their food orders. In February of this year, Amazon announced the integration of the Pantry store with Fresh in a few cities.
According to the e-commerce behemoth, the new integrated platform will provide customers with amazing savings, a vast selection of products, and quick and simple delivery options all in one convenient online location.
Amazon India’s director of category management, Siddharth Nambiar, stated, “This launch has allowed us to streamline the grocery shopping experience through our dedicated Amazon Fresh app-in-app experience, and it positions us to provide a slew of new features and advancements in the months ahead. Amazon Fresh will not only give tremendous savings, but it will also lower the obstacles to grocery shopping online.”
“With this new launch, all things will be sent in a single simple shipment that will take anywhere from 1-3 days depending on the customer’s location,” he added.
The company presently receives over 65 percent of orders and over 85 percent of new consumers from tier 2 and 3 cities in India.
“Following the pandemic, we’ve witnessed a lot of adoption of online grocery shopping in major towns like Bhubaneshwar, Patna, and Lucknow. To further speed new customer adoption, we will continue to expand our footprint and improve our service quality in these cities “Nambiar stated.
