Anil Deshmukh taken for medical examination ahead of HC hearing in money laundering case

Anil Deshmukh, the former Maharashtra Home Minister, has been brought for a medical checkup ahead of a hearing in the Bombay High Court on Friday in connection with a money laundering case.

The Enforcement Directorate’s detention of Deshmukh comes to an end today. Deshmukh was remanded in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) custody till November 12 by the Bombay High Court on November 7.

On November 1, he was detained in connection with allegations of extortion and money laundering levelled against him by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh.

Deshmukh, according to Singh, was involved in a number of wrongdoings, including instructing former Mumbai Police Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore from pubs and eateries in the city.
