Anurag Kashyap claims that Kennedy was intended for Chiyaan Vikram. However, there was no reply

Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap, will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. On Wednesday, the movie’s world premiere will take place, starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat. But did you know that Rahul Bhat was not Kennedy’s first choice? In an interview with Anupama Chopra, the filmmaker disclosed that Chiyaan Vikram would play the movie’s lead role. He claimed, “I actually had a specific actor in mind when I wrote this film. Which is why the film is called Kennedy.”

Anurag Kashyap added, “Because that actor’s nickname is Kennedy. The film was called The Kennedy Project. It is Chiyaan Vikram. Chiyaan Vikram’s real name is Kennedy. I reached out to him. He never responded. So then, I reached out to Rahul. I said, ‘Read it’.”

Anurag Kashyap remarked of Rahul Bhat’s response, “His reaction, his response, was enthusiastic. And not like an actor. “Yeh Kaun kar raha hai” (Who is working on this project?) he exclaimed. ‘Karega [Are you interested?]’ I questioned. ‘Me?’ he asked. ‘Yes, but you’ll have to give it all,’ I replied. And he was scheduled to work on some flicks. He gave Kennedy eight months of his life.

Anurag Kashyap commented on Rahul Bhat’s physical changes by saying, “Because Rahul is a thin guy. He bulked up for it. He grew a beard. ‘You must be unable to sleep’, I remarked. And it took him 1.5 months to finally fall asleep at night. After that, he managed to get himself out of it. He then developed a beard and appeared unclean. I then remarked that you were playing the part at that point. He gave the part his all with amazing dedication, sincerity, and absolute surrender.

Kennedy will be featured at the prestigious film gala’s Midnight Screenings segment. Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, which was before this, premiered at the 2012 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. The 2013 Cannes Film Festival’s Special Screenings section is where Bombay Talkies made their debut. Ugly was shown at the Directors’ Fortnight section that same year and garnered a standing ovation.
