Asif Mohammad Khan, a former Congress MLA, was arrested by Delhi police for assaulting an MCD worker.

Former Congress MLA Asif Mohammad Khan was detained on Saturday in the Shaheen Bagh district of the national capital for abusing and assaulting on-duty Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) personnel and disrupting government operations, according to Delhi Police.

“On the allegation of Ram Kishore, Inspector, MCD Lajpat Nagar Zone, one guy Asif Mohammad Khan attacked and assaulted MCD workers who were on duty and impeded government operations,” police said.

Under sections 186, 353, 332, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, a case has been filed at the Shaheen Bagh Police Station (IPC).

The case is currently being investigated further.

Earlier on Friday, a viral video of the ex-Congress MLA was released in which he can be seen hitting and abusing a group of people after a banner containing his image was taken from outside his Okhla property.

In the video, he can be heard abusing people, beating them, and forcing them to do squats while holding their ears.
