Ban on Rs 2000 is another surgical strike on black money: Sushil

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi stated on Saturday that the central government’s move to abolish the Rs 2000 currency is yet another surgical blow against illicit money and terror financing.

Modi said here that even when in opposition, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar supported the ban on Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency in 2016.

He said that if Kumar has not made any deals involving black money or corruption, he should support the present move to withdraw the Rs 2000 currency.

The BJP MP said that even in America and Europe, no money greater than 100 denominations is in circulation, adding that the central bank has decided to remove Rs 2000 currency due to necessity.

He said that in common practice people were avoiding Rs 2000 currency and they would remain unaffected with the decision of its withdrawal.
