Following the intervention of lieutenant governor and DDA chairman VK Saxena, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has sold 870 of the 1,281 formerly “unsold” units in Narela in the last 15 days on a first-come, first-served basis, Raj Niwas reported.

According to the statement, the LG’s involvement, which includes changing the requirements for purchasing homes and working to improve security, transportation connectivity, and health facilities in Narela, has boosted the selling of apartments.
On a first come, first served basis, DDA has been offering 509 LIG and 772 EWS flats at Narela since September 5. For this, it has received 1,940 registrations, and 870 flats—619 EWS and 251 LIG flats—have already been sold. It stated that the estimated sales price for all 1,281 apartments is Rs 196.9 crore.

The restriction that applicants for EWS categories have an annual individual income of less than Rs 3 lakh and an annual family income of less than Rs 10 lakh was eliminated at the DDA meeting on August 3 that was presided over by the LG. Instead, the authorities chose to only give such flats to families with annual family incomes below Rs 10 lakh, as attested by relevant officers or authority, which, according to the statement, allowed for the eligibility of a great number of additional applications.

The statement added that the people had responded enthusiastically to the decision to switch from a lottery system for housing allocation to a first-come, first-served system, which gives the buyer the chance to first view the property before making a decision.
According to Raj Niwas, the Delhi Transport Corporation has begun running two buses each shift in two shifts on routes connecting Narela Pocket-G and Narela Sector-A1 to Central Secretariat through well-traveled areas of the city, per the LG’s directives. According to the report, Delhi Police has been given land to build 11 police stations in different Narela areas.
