On the occasion of Telangana National Integration Day, the Congress party made a resounding statement on Sunday evening with a ‘mega rally’ held at Telangana’s Tukkuguda. Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress Chief, unveiled the party’s six key guarantees for the upcoming Telangana assembly elections, emphasizing their commitment to fulfilling each one of them.
In a statement reported by news agency PTI, Sonia Gandhi stated, “To fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana, we (Congress) are announcing six guarantees, and we are committed to fulfilling each one of them.”
Among the promises announced, Sonia Gandhi highlighted that women in Telangana would receive Rs 2,500 per month in financial assistance under the Mahalakshmi scheme. Additionally, gas cylinders would be made available at a cost of Rs 500, and women in TSRC buses across the state would be eligible for free travel. Gandhi stated, “To fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana, we are announcing 6 guarantees, and we are committed to fulfill each one of them.”
Expressing her vision for Telangana, Sonia Gandhi said, “My dream is to see a Congress government in Telangana that will work for every section of society. Are you going to support us?” She also reminisced about the birth of the state of Telangana, expressing her attachment to its history.
Before the rally, large hoardings featuring Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Sonia Gandhi were installed in Telangana’s Tukkuguda, as reported by PTI.
The previous day, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) strongly criticized the BJP government in Delhi and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) administration in Hyderabad. They accused these parties of betraying Telangana’s hopes for a prosperous future, particularly nine years after the state’s formation. The CWC also leveled allegations against Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his family, accusing them of implementing “family rule” and governing in a manner reminiscent of the Nizams.
The Congress party’s highest decision-making body urged Telangana voters to support the party in the forthcoming assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The CWC’s message, delivered during its inaugural meeting on Saturday, emphasized the revival of the dream of a ‘Bangaaru’ (golden) Telangana, aiming to provide the people with the future they deserve.
As quoted by PTI, the party underscored, “People of Telangana aspired for a ‘Bangaaru’ Telangana where they could chart their own destiny with Nidhilu, Neelu, Niayamakalu – resources, water, employment – for all.” The Congress party appears determined to connect with the aspirations of Telangana’s citizens as they head into the upcoming elections.
