An official said here on Friday that former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh has accepted his suspension order and that the Maharashtra home department has acknowledged it.
Param Bir Singh, the Director General of the Home Guards, was suspended on Thursday after being cited as a suspect in at least five extortion cases in Mumbai and Thane. Anil Deshmukh, the then-state home minister, was previously accused of corruption by the former Mumbai police commissioner.
