An accident in Bihar claimed the lives of five relatives of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
O P Singh’s brother-in-law, Rajput’s brother-in-law, and other relatives were among those killed in the tragedy. Mr Singh is an IPS officer who is currently serving as the Assistant Director General of Police in Haryana.
Mr Singh’s sister died on Monday in Patna, according to reports. The funeral was held the same day, and her family members were on their way to Jamui this morning when the accident occurred. On the Sikandra-Sheikhpura road, the driver of the SUV they were in fell asleep at the wheel, and the vehicle collided with a truck carrying LPG cylinders.
Laljit Singh, Mr Singh’s brother-in-law, Amit Shekhar Singh, Ramchandra Singh, D G Kumari, and Pritam Kumar, the driver, all perished on the spot. The collision caused four persons to be injured, and they were sent to Patna for treatment.
Following the incident, Neeraj Singh Bablu, a Bihar minister and Rajput relative, travelled to Jamui to speak with family members of those killed in the accident.
On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput was discovered dead in his Mumbai flat.
The CBI, the Enforcement Directorate, and the Narcotics Control Bureau were all involved in the investigation into his death, which resulted in a politically charged standoff between Bihar and Mumbai Police and a multi-agency probe involving the CBI, the Enforcement Directorate, and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The case had also sparked outrage over an alleged Bollywood-drug link, with the NCB accusing 33 persons of being involved in a “drug syndicate,” including actor and Rajput’s partner Rhea Chakraborty. In October of last year, Ms Chakraborty, who had been arrested in this case, was given bail.
