Four Dead as a Pine Tree fell on a tent in J&K

In the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir, four-member of a nomadic tribal family died as a pine tree fell on their tent due to high-speed wind and heavy rainfall.

The officials said the family, which was on its way to Dachan with sheep and goats, halted in Bhalna forest area of Keshwan belt due to heavy rains. The Senior Superintendent of Police of Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal, told PTI  “A pine tree fell on a tent pitched by the nomadic family in the forest belt.

In this tragic incident, four family members lost their lives early today,” The Deputy Commissioner of Kishtwar, Devansh Yadaw reported that four people, including three women, died on the spot.

A team sent by the police immediately reached the spot for rescue operation and the bodies were taken to a hospital for legal formalities.

The Red Cross Society provided the family an immediate relief of 50,000 rupees.
