Three individuals were killed and four others were injured in a shooting at an apartment in Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday night, authorities said. The attack was possibly motivated by a robbery.
According to investigators, six of the shooting victims were from the same family and ranged in age from 13 to 40.
The event occurred about 9:45 p.m. local time and resulted in the deaths of three young males, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s Twitter account.
Zacquez Sherrell, 18, and Tavarius Sherrell, 15, were two brothers who were killed, according to authorities. The shooting also injured their 40-year-old mother, 20- and 16-year-old sisters, and 13-year-old brother.
According to a private channel, the injured people were transferred to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in stable condition. According to police, they are expected to recover.
Christian Akail Johnson, 29, of Nashville, was the third person killed, according to authorities. According to the police department, he was “believed to be one of the two suspects that entered the home,” both armed.
According to authorities, Johnson was a convicted robber, and robbery is being considered a motive in the shooting.
According to authorities, three firearms were discovered from the site. On the second suspect, authorities offered no additional information.
According to police, there was no evidence of forced entry. The perpetrators “appear to have obtained entry after banging on the front door,” according to the police department.
Police spokesman Kristin Mumford told reporters on the site that investigators were trying to figure out what happened before the gunshots.
Mumford told media, “We’re following up on some leads and interviewing and talking to people.” “Anyone who may have fled the scene or has information about what occurred inside the apartment should contact us immediately.”
According to police records, there have been 491 gunshot victims in Davidson County, where Nashville is located, this year, including homicides and injuries. The prior average during the preceding 11 years was 332.
