The Union Health Ministry announced on Friday that a single-day increase of 10,549 new COVID-19 infections had brought India’s total to 3,45,55,431. At the moment, there are 1,10,133 active cases.
In the last 24 hours, 488 people have died, bringing the total death toll to 4,67,468. During the same time period, 9,868 recoveries were recorded, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,39,77,830.
For the past 49 days, the daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000, and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for the past 152 days.
According to the health ministry, active cases account for 0.32 percent of all infections, with a national COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.33 percent.
There have been a total of 63.71 crore Total Tests done in the country so far.
On August 7, 2020, the COVID-19 tally in India surpassed 20 lakh, followed by 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.
On September 28, it topped the 60 lakh level, followed by the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and the one-crore mark on December 19.
