Following a meeting of the Delimitation Commission, Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated on Monday that the National Conference (NC) leaders were satisfied with the Commission’s criteria.
According to the union minister, who was speaking to members of the media, “All of the Commission’s associate members agreed to help the Commission run smoothly. The Commission has performed admirably. We must recognise that they adhered to a set of guidelines, based on which they produced records that are quite objectively completed.”
Members of the National Conference (NC) were also pleased with the Delimitation Commission’s criteria, according to him.
“The associated members, regardless of their party and political affiliations, not only applauded the Delimitation Commission’s efforts, but also pledged to continue to cooperate for the remainder of the exercise,” he stated.
When asked about the upcoming elections, the union minister stated, “We don’t know when the polls will take place. The Election Commission, which is an independent agency, will make the decision, and the government will not interfere with the constitutional body’s operation.”
In response to a strike by electricity department employees in Jammu and Kashmir, he stated that the union territory’s growth will not be halted.
“Those who are on strike must be handled by the administration, and I am confident that they will,” Mr Singh added.

The meeting was attended by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, National Conference Chief Farooq Abdullah, party heavyweights Mohammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masudi, and BJP leader Jugal Kishore Sharma.
