After having a meeting with West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee in Kolkata, Delhi CM and AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Maan also met Shiv Sena (UBT) fraction President Uddhav Thackrey in Mumbai as a part of their nationwide journey to gather support against the ordinance brought by the Centre undermining the order of the Supreme Court.
The ordinance undermining the order of the SC, which provided the Delhi Government with control of services in Delhi apart from the police, public order, and land, allows the Central Government to establish a National Capital Civil Service Authority for the transfer of and disciplinary proceedings against Group A officers from the DANICS cadre. The ordinance means that the Modi government does not believe in the Supreme Court, said Kejriwal.
Thackrey, while inferring that the decision of the Supreme Court was important for democracy, said that “we have come together to defeat those against democracy. If we miss the train this time, then there will be no democracy in the country. We have come together to save the country and the Constitution.”
While moving ahead in their quest for support from the opposition parties, Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann are set to meet Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar on Thursday.
