Kim Jong Un Scolds North Korea Officials After Floods: ‘You Were Insensitive To…’

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has expressed strong displeasure at what he termed an “irresponsible” approach taken by officials in handling the aftermath of tropical storm Khanun, which recently wreaked havoc in the country. The storm’s impact, exacerbated by heavy rains, led to widespread damage, particularly in the region of Anbyon County in the east.

During a visit to the flood-affected farmlands in Anbyon County, Kim Jong Un highlighted the extent of the damage and attributed it to the “extremely chronic and irresponsible work attitude” of local officials, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). He emphasized that the lack of responsiveness to state measures and the failure to take appropriate actions resulted in greater harm being inflicted upon the region compared to others.

“The officials of the region were insensitive to the state measures and took no measure and, as a result, the region suffered much damage than other regions,” the KCNA quoted Kim Jong Un as stating.

In response to the devastation caused by the storm, North Korea initiated a proactive campaign to address the adverse impact of the abnormal climate conditions. The country called for concerted efforts to minimize the damage and enhance preparedness to mitigate future challenges.

Kim Jong Un’s inspection of major munitions factories follows closely on the heels of his directives to ramp up missile and weapons production. His recent tour encompassed facilities involved in the manufacturing of tactical missiles, mobile launch platforms, armored vehicles, and artillery shells. Notably, at the missile factory, Kim Jong Un emphasized the imperative of increasing production capacity to facilitate the mass production of missiles.

“The qualitative level of war preparations depends on the development of the munitions industry and the factory bears a very important responsibility in speeding up the war preparations of the (North) Korean People’s Army,” Kim Jong Un remarked according to the KCNA report.

Furthermore, Kim Jong Un articulated a strategic outlook that underscores the necessity for North Korea to maintain an overwhelming military force, prepared to confront and overcome any potential conflict. He underscored the importance of being fully equipped to address any adversarial situation and asserted the nation’s resolve to ensure the annihilation of its enemies.

The recent developments underline Kim Jong Un’s unwavering commitment to bolstering North Korea’s military capabilities and preparedness in the face of evolving regional dynamics and potential challenges.
