Despite the order, the Bombay High Court has severely chastised NCP politician and Maharashtra cabinet minister Nawab Malik for his remarks about the Wankhede family. The Bombay High Court questioned Nawab Malik on why he should not be sent with a contempt of court notice. The High Court has granted Nawab Malik until December 10 to file a response in this case.
The Bombay High Court admonished Nawab Malik at the hearing in this case, saying, “If he is making this speech personally, we require him to appear here today.” Nawab’s lawyers responded by stating that any statements he has made have been made on behalf of the NCP and not as an individual. During the hearing, the court noted that Nawab Malik had violated his promise not to make any statements on the Wankhede family, which he believed prima facie.
Court gave time to Nawab Malik till Dec 10
The court stated that before taking any action against the Nawab, he has until December 10 to make a response, as the case would be heard again on that day. In reality, despite the court’s ruling, the Wankhede family informed the High Court today about Nawab Malik’s persistent invective against him, accusing the Nawab of contempt of court.
The claimed photo of marriage was used to launch a verbal attack
By releasing a claimed photo of NCB officer Sameer Wankhede’s first marriage, Nawab Malik launched a verbal attack. He said that Wankhede’s marriage was performed in accordance with Islamic norms. Nawab Malik had previously stated that Wankhede was born into a Muslim family, but that he obtained a government post by falsifying his caste certificate.
