Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, stated on Thursday (December 16) that his family, like the people of Uttarakhand, had made sacrifices for the country.
Gandhi, speaking in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, to kick off the Congress’ election campaign, said his family, like many others in the state, had made sacrifices for the country. “My family has made sacrifices in the same way that thousands of families in Uttarakhand have lost relatives fighting for the country’s honour. This is how I feel about Uttarakhand “he stated
In addition, the Congress leader blasted the Centre for failing to recognise late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at a government function in New Delhi commemorating the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War anniversary.
Gandhi stated the previous Prime Minister took “32 bullets for country” when speaking at a rally commemorating the ‘Sainik Vijay Samman Diwas,’ although her name was not mentioned at the Modi government’s ceremony.
“In the 1971 war, Pakistan lowered its head in 13 days. A war is usually fought for six months or one to two years. America needed 20 years to overcome Afghanistan, while India only required 13 days to defeat Pakistan because the country was united and stood as one “ANI cited the former Congress head as saying.
Today a function was held in Delhi regarding the Bangladesh war. There was no mention of Indira Gandhi in that function. He then went on to criticise the federal government, saying, “A function about the Bangladesh conflict was organised today in Delhi. That function made no mention of Indira Gandhi. Because this government is terrified of the truth, the woman who took 32 bullets for our country was not mentioned in the invitation.”
During a rally at Parade Ground in Dehradun on the 50th anniversary of India’s triumph over Pakistan in the 1971 war, Rahul Gandhi also paid respect to the martyrs and veterans of the war.
