Following a Dutch regulator’s decision, Apple will allow dating app makers to provide other payment choices in the Netherlands. The technology firm, on the other hand, has opted to appeal the decision to a higher court.

In the interim, Apple is launching two optional new entitlements on the Netherlands App Store. That are only available to dating applications and give customers extra payment processing alternatives.
“Dating app developers who wish to keep using Apple’s in-app purchase mechanism, can do so without taking any additional action,” Apple stated in a statement.

The move follows recent instructions from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM). Allowing dating app makers to provide additional payment processing choices with users on the App Store in the nation. Iphone now are provided with new payment options.
The firm is concerned that these modifications would impair the user experience. And also introduce new concerns to user privacy and data security, according to the corporation.
Resulting, dating apps in the nation will be able to dodge Apple’s 15-30% fee on in-app sales.

Apple’s Opinion

“Apple will not be aware of purchases made through alternative ways. So Apple will be unable to assist consumers with difficulties. Such as refunds, purchase history, subscription management, and other difficulties that may arise while purchasing digital products and services using these methods. You’ll be in charge of dealing with such concerns with clients”, in a statement to developers on its website, the tech giant issued a warning.

“We have appealed to higher court because we do not feel these ACM’s instructions are in our users’ best interests,” Apple added.

The European Union and the US Federal Trade Commission have also launched antitrust inquiries into Apple’s app store rules.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has launched an antitrust probe into Apple’s App Store business practices in India.
