According to RPP (Radio Programas del Peru), the 6.5-magnitude earthquake in western Ecuador caused damage in northern Peru and resulted in the death of one child.
The four-year-old child died on Saturday in the Department of Tumbes, which borders Ecuador, as a consequence of a roof fall, according to RPP, citing local hospital authorities.
Ecuador’s president said on Saturday that the death toll from Saturday’s earthquake had risen to 12, with 11 people killed in the province of El Oro and one in the province of Azuay. As a consequence of the earthquake, many people have been hurt.
On Saturday, a 6.5-magnitude earthquake hit western Ecuador, with the epicentre around 59 kilometers (37 miles) north of Machala.
