At roughly 12 p.m. on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mandi in Himachal Pradesh to lay the foundation stone for hydropower projects totaling over 11,000 crore.

The Sawra-Kuddu Hydropower Project will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. The 111 MW project cost roughly Rs. 2080 crore to construct. It would generate over 380 million units of power per year and generate over 120 crore in revenue for the state each year.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Renukaji Dam project, which has been in the works for nearly three decades.

“The project was made feasible by the Prime Minister’s vision of cooperative federalism, when the Centre pulled together six states, namely Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Delhi, to make the project viable,” the PMO stated.

“The 40 MW project will cost about 7000 crore to construct. It will be extremely advantageous for Delhi, which will receive approximately 500 million cubic metres of water per year “It was also added.

The foundation stone for the Luhri Stage 1 Hydro Power Project will be laid by the Prime Minister. “The 210 MW project will cost about Rs 1800 crore to construct. It will result in the production of more than 750 million kilowatt-hours of power per year. In addition, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Dhaulasidh Hydro Power Project. According to the PMO, this will be the district’s first hydroelectric project. The 66-megawatt plant will cost more than Rs. 680 crore to construct. It will result in the production of more than 300 million kilowatt-hours of power per year.

PM Modi will preside over the second ground-breaking ceremony of the Himachal Pradesh Global Investors’ Meet at roughly 11:30 a.m., prior to the event.
