The causes of prostate cancer have not been found yet. but there are some risk factors that increase a man’s chances of developing this cancer. Like age, most cases of this cancer are found in men over the age of 65. Other risk factors include a family history of prostate cancer, ethnicity, obesity, and exposure to certain chemicals.
Symptoms of prostate cancer are usually not noticeable in the early stages, but as cancer grows, symptoms include frequent urination, blood in the urine or semen, pain in the lower back, hips, or thighs, and erectile dysfunction.
These symptoms can be caused by other diseases, so it’s better to seek emergency care or talk to a professional about them.
So here are some habits that can help you reduce the risk of prostate cancer.
1.Vitamin D intake
Vitamin D is very important for overall well-being, so it’s important to take vitamin D daily. You can eat food that has some vitamin D, or you can get vitamin D from the sun. Vitamin D-rich foods include cod liver oil, wild salmon, and dried shiitake mushrooms. Many experts advise receiving 10 minutes of daily sun exposure (without sunscreen) because it is a better and more accessible source of vitamin D.
2. Maintain a healthy weight
A healthy weight indicates good health, so it’s better to maintain a healthy BMI. A body mass index (BMI) of 30 or greater indicates obesity in men, which is not good and can increase the risk of getting caught by prostate cancer. So focus on losing weight if you are obese or overweight. You can lose weight by following a diet like keto, doing intermittent fasting, consuming fewer calories daily, and engaging in more physical activity.
3. Talk to a professional
It is good to talk to a professional about your symptoms and what you are experiencing so they can detect them or take some further steps to cure them. Prostate cancer risk is higher for some men. There may be further risk-reduction alternatives, such as medication, for people with a very high risk of developing prostate cancer. Seek professional help if you believe you have a high risk of prostate cancer.
4. Maintain a healthy diet.
Although research has not demonstrated that any specific nutrient is guaranteed to lower your risk, eating fruits and vegetables or following a healthy diet can help with overall well-being. So it is generally good to follow a healthy diet so you will be less at risk of getting caught by any diseases.
5.Workout regularly
Exercise is generally good for your overall well-being, and exercise has many benefits like improving blood flow, increasing your metabolism, or boosting your immunity level. And can help in battling some diseases, lower inflammation, and help in achieving a healthy weight; all of these can help in reducing the risk of cancer.
