The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) advised its employees on Wednesday to return home “peacefully” after police detained many persons for breaching CrPC Section 144.
After the Punjab Home Department imposed Section 144, prohibiting public rallies ahead of the PTI’s election campaign and the Aurat March, which were scheduled for today, the party workers and supporters were taken into custody from the Zaman Park area, where PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s residence is located.
In a statement, PTI senior leader Hammad Azhar said that the Punjab caretaker government and the Centre were causing “chaos.” He also said that the party was not allowed to campaign, even though the election schedule had been released.
“I am telling all my workers to return home peacefully. They want us to resort to chaos, but we will not let them succeed,” he added.
According to Geo News, the former energy minister said that police shot tear gas shells at workers in certain areas and that they are continuing to do so.
PTI leader Farrukh Habib subsequently said during a news conference that a party worker, Ali Bilal, is “lying in Services Hospital” and requested an answer from Punjab interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
He asserted that the interim administration sought to “spill blood” today and had succeeded.
PTI leaders accuse the government of the murder of a party worker.
The Services Hospital’s management says that the PTI worker had a head injury, but they don’t know what caused his death.
