Rahul Gandhi’s rally to be held in Mumbai on December 28 postponed, Bhai Jagtap withdraws petition from HC

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s rally to be held in Mumbai on December 28 has been postponed. It is being told that in view of the increasing cases of Omicron variants, it was decided to postpone it. Congress’s foundation day is on 28th December, so Rahul Gandhi’s rally was being held. On Monday, Congress’s Mumbai unit president Bhai Jagtap had approached the Bombay High Court against Maha Vikas Aghadi, BMC and Mumbai Police, but the petition was withdrawn on Tuesday.

Rahul Gandhi’s rally postponed

Congress’s Mumbai unit president Bhai Jagtap has withdrawn one of his petitions filed in the Bombay High Court. In this petition, he had asked the Maharashtra government to issue a direction to allow the Congress party’s pre-scheduled rally at Shivaji Park on December 28. Jagpat had filed this petition on Monday, on which a division bench of Justice Amjad Syed and Justice Abhay Ahuja was to hear on Tuesday. However, Jagpat’s counsel VA Throt mentioned the petition before the bench in the morning and said that he was directed to withdraw it unconditionally. On this, the High Court allowed the withdrawal of the petition.

Congress leader Jagtap withdraws the petition

Congress leader Jagtap’s lawyer did not give any specific reason for withdrawing the petition. Jagtap had said in his petition that an application was submitted to the state government in October 2021, seeking approval for the rally of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. But till now the government has not taken any decision on this application. In the petition, an appeal was made to the High Court to give directions to the state government regarding holding the rally and along with it a demand was also made to set up a temporary stage in a part of the ground.
