On Tuesday, medical services in Rajasthan were disrupted due to an indefinite protest by resident doctors at government hospitals in support of their varied demands.

On Monday night, the strike began. From Monday, resident doctors at the Centre-run RML, Safdarjung, and Lady Hardinge hospitals in Delhi boycotted all regular and emergency services in solidarity of the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDAworldwide )’s protest against the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counselling.

Medical college residents in Jaipur, Kota, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jhalawar, Bikaner, and Jodhpur are on strike. Due to the strike, long lines of patients were witnessed in outpatient departments (OPDs) in government hospitals in Rajasthan. The arrangements and patients are being looked after by senior doctors.

“The state administration has made no concrete steps to meet our legitimate demands, which may be met immediately. We have no choice but to go on an indefinite strike from Monday night due to the government’s indifference “President of the Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors, Dr. Amit Yadav. He explained that academic activities have been severely hampered as a result of the lack of resident doctors in the first year and the heavy workload placed on other resident doctors as a result of the Covid pandemic, and that one of their main demands is for relaxation in submitting paper presentations, posters, and thesis.

The memorandum of demand also mentions the state government’s constructive attempts to work with the federal government to resolve the NEET-PG counselling issues as soon as possible. He claimed that resident doctors spend too much time in hospitals doing “clerical work” relating to the Chiranjeevi health insurance programme and the Bhamashah scheme, limiting their time for study and patient care.

“We demand that the government release us from these bureaucratic duties so that we can devote our time to medical and scholarly endeavours,” Yadav said. It has also been requested that the Rajasthan government boost the number of senior inhabitants.

“There has been no response from the state government, nor has there been any offer to meet. We met with a top official from the state government yesterday, but our discussions were fruitless “On Tuesday, he stated.
