The recent winning streak was broken on Friday as equity indexes dropped more than 1%, but the week still concluded in profits, making it the fifth consecutive week of gains.

The 30-share BSE Sensex index fell by 651.85 points, or 1.08 percent, to 59,646.15, and the Nifty ends with losses of more than 1%.

Early on Friday, the Sensex had a positive start to the day, reaching a high of 60,411.20 points. There was strong selling pressure at noon, and as that selling pressure grew, the index fell to 59,522.18 points in the afternoon session.

The Nifty also had a good day’s start, reaching a high of 17,992.20 points in the morning session. In the afternoon, it was subject to intense selling pressure and fell to a low of 17,727.70 points.
