The custody of former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has been extended by five additional days by Delhi’s Rouse Avenues Court on Friday however the Enforcement Directorate had requested a stay for seven days following the arrest and interrogation.
The money laundering case for the ex- minister has been accused pertains to alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the capital’s now scrapped excise policy.
Sisodia’s case was brought before special judge M K Nagpal on Friday amid heavy security deployment inside and outside the premises.
The only advantage provided to Sisodia by the court is to sign cheques for his family’s expenses and his wife’s medical expenses – of ₹40,000 and ₹45,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, AAP party leader Raghav Chadha on Friday claimed that the ED had questioned Sisodia for only 15 hours and claimed that the central probe agencies only have “malicious and fabricated stories” against former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Apparently he went on to claim that Sisodia is being asked the same questions over and over again.
Addressing a press conference, Chadha claimed the CBI and the ED don’t have any evidence against Sisodia and he is behind bars as a result of BJP’s “politics of revenge”.
