Actor Sonu Sood stated today that his sister, Malvika Sood, will run in the Punjab elections early next year, but remained tight-lipped about which party she will support.
The actor, whose performance during the Covid crisis drew widespread acclaim, made the announcement at a press conference in Moga, around 170 kilometres from Chandigarh’s capital.
Mr. Sood met with Punjab Chief Minister Charanjeet Singh Channi recently.
The actor previously visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who appointed him as a brand ambassador for the “Desh ka Mentors” school-based mentoring initiative.
Despite the fact that he has been praised by politicians and political parties, Sonu Sood has always maintained that his charitable work has nothing to do with politics.
The encounter with Mr. Kejriwal sparked speculation about a political debut, maybe as an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate in the Punjab election.
“There was no mention of politics. We haven’t talked anything political yet “At the time, Sonu Sood informed reporters.
The 48-year-old actor has been dubbed the “messiah of migrants” for his humanitarian efforts during the Covid crisis.
Hundreds of migrants were stranded and powerless during the lockdown, so Sonu Sood organised buses, trains, and even aircraft to return them to their home state. He organised oxygen for Covid patients during the second wave earlier this year.
