Kolkata: Subrata Mukherjee, a senior member of the Trinamool Congress, died on Thursday. He took his last breathe in a state-run hospital in Kolkata after a protracted illness, according to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Mukherjee, the state panchayat minister, was 75 years old.
The chief minister paid a visit to the SSKM Hospital and announce his death late this evening.
“I’m still in shock that he’s no longer with us. He was a devoted leader of the party. For me, it’s a personal loss ” she said.
Subrata Mukherjee was admitted to the hospital’s ICU last week after complaining of significant breathing problems, according to hospital sources.
