Supreme Court agrees to hear AAP leader Satyendar Jain’s bail plea on May 26

The Supreme Court has now agreed to hear Jain’s bail plea on May 26, 2021. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained Satyendar Jain, an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, in 2021 in connection with a case involving alleged bribery and money laundering. He had sought bail from both the trial court and the Delhi High Court but was unsuccessful. Because Jain was a powerful figure and could tamper with the evidence if granted bail, the Delhi High Court had refused to grant him bail.

Senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi requested that Satyendar Jain’s health-related petition be heard immediately. Jain had lost 35 kg and was experiencing muscle atrophy, Singhvi said on the SC bench. Jain also has to undergo several procedures, according to Singhvi. Aniruddha Bose and Sanjay Karol, two justices on vacation, agreed to hear the case on May 26.
