The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to probe the Lakhimpur violence case under the supervision of a former judge. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court will order the appointment of a judge for a fair probe in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. The Uttar Pradesh administration decided to assign a former high court justice from outside the state to lead the inquiry into the Lakhimpur violence case during a hearing in the Supreme Court. For the hearing of the violence case, Harish Salve represented the UP government and presented the state government’s viewpoint.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court requested that the Uttar Pradesh government enhance the special inquiry panel that had been established. The Supreme Court made this ruling because the majority of the officers are from Lakhimpur Kheri. The identities of the officers who would be joining the SIT have been requested by the Supreme Court.
The UP government’s attorney, Harish Salve, stated, “We have taken the orders.” The Supreme Court will appoint a monitor based on their judgement. During this time, he stated : I believe the appointed judge should not be referred to as a state or federal judge. He believes it is sufficient for the court to choose a responsible person.
