The Prime Minister lays the foundation for the 36,230-crore Ganga Expressway, which will be the longest in Uttar Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lay the foundation stone for the 594-kilometer Ganga Expressway in the Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh today.

The expressway runs from Bijauli village in Meerut to Judapur Dandu village in Prayagraj.

It will travel through the state’s districts of Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj.

It will be Uttar Pradesh’s longest expressway when it is completed, connecting the state’s western and eastern areas.

The six-lane expressway, which can be expanded to eight lanes, will cost over 36,230 crore to construct.

On the road near Shahjahanpur, a 3.5-kilometer-long air strip would be built to aid emergency takeoff and landing of Indian Air Force planes.

Along the freeway, an industrial corridor is also being proposed.

It will have a significant impact on the region’s socioeconomic development.
