Gains in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Travel & Leisure, and Aerospace & Defense sectors pulled U.K. equities higher at the closing on Friday.
The United Kingdom 100 rose 0.32 percent to a new 52-week high at the London close.
Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which surged 9.43 percent or 146.2 points to close at 1696.0 on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100, was the session’s largest gainer. In late trading, Tui AG (LON:TUIT) rose 6.25 percent or 14.70 points to 249.98, while EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) rose 6.16 percent or 38.20 points to 658.20.
Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) was the biggest loss in late session, losing 3.31 percent or 320.0 points to trade at 9348.0. Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) down 1.95 percent or 55.0 points to 2768.0, while Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) fell 3.10 percent or 55.00 points to 1717.50.
On the London Stock Exchange, advancers outpaced decliners by 1255 to 1103, and 75 stocks ended unchanged.
Gold futures for December delivery were up 1.06 percent, or 18.95, to $1812.45 a troy ounce in commodities trade. Meanwhile, December crude oil increased 3.02 percent or 2.38 percent to $81.19 a barrel, while January Brent oil rose 2.58 percent or 2.08 percent to $82.62 a barrel.
The GBP/USD exchange rate fell 0.14 percent to 1.3478, while the EUR/GBP exchange rate increased 0.15 percent to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index Futures were trading at 94.323, down 0.02 percent.
