The reintroduction of all ports and SD card slots in the 2021 MacBook Pro was a nice improvement. However, when trying to utilise an SD card on the new MacBook Pro, one of the most welcome features, the SD card reader, is suddenly receiving reports of poor transfer speeds or even unreadable files. Many people have reported the problem online, and MacRumours was the first to publish it, implying that it affects both the 14-inch and 16-inch 2021 MacBook Pro models.
There is no consistency, according to reports, as different customers have reported different troubles with the SD card slot. A customer with a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro processor stated the laptop was “extremely flaky,” taking up to a minute to recognise the SD card and occasionally displaying an error. Another customer reported that when the Mac tries to read an SD card, the Finder crashes. According to reports, formatting the SD card does not always solve the problem. Some customers have also reported that using a USB type-C adaptor works with the same SD card.
Apple has yet to recognise the problem, and it’s unclear whether it’s a software or hardware issue. Users have been advised that the firm is aware of the problem and that a software update with a fix will be available soon.
The MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models were unveiled during Apple’s “Unleashed” event in October. The new MacBook Pro models included a much-anticipated return of ports, as well as an SD card reader. Apple’s latest M1 Pro and M1 Max chipsets power the MacBook Pro models. The laptops have a notch and a 120Hz display. In India, the MacBook Pro 14-inch starts at Rs 1,94,900, while the MacBook Pro 16-inch starts at Rs 2,39,900.
